The Origin of Dragon Boat Festival

The most widely accepted version of the origin of the Dragon Boat Festival is that it is a festival in commemoration of Qu Yuan, a great scholar of Chu during the Spring and Autumn and the Warring States Periods. As the first patriotic poet putting forward the idea of “integrity and honesty”, Qu Yuan composed a lot of poetry on integrity and honesty, such as: “When I was a child, I was honest. When I grew up, I started to serve the righteous cause with unabated honesty and integrity.” and “ we should keep ourselves clean by staying committed to honesty and integrity.”
