Asia dairy giant Yili Group cooperates with its Thai subsidiary Chomthana and Thailand Siam Dragon Association to deliver 170,400 face masks and other anti-epidemic supplies to the Thai Ministry of Public Health, Royal Thai Police and Phuket Police Headquarters, Thai Red Cross Society, and Pathum Thani Hospital on May 8 to support Thailand’s fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Distributed within a single day, this is Yili’s fifth international anti-epidemic supplies donation since the global outbreak, following deliveries to Iraq, Uruguay, Netherlands, and Indonesia.

“Since entering the Thai market, Yili has always abided by the spirit of corporate social responsibility,” says An Zhengwen, a Yili representative. “We hope that this donation can assist Thailand’s frontline workers and protect the health of the Thai people.”

“The Ministry of Public Health expresses its sincere thanks for this donation, which will help Thailand continue to control the outbreak,” said Anutin Charnvirakul, Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Public Health, who attended the donation ceremony when the first batch of equipment was delivered to the Ministry of Public Health on the morning of May 8. “We will ensure that these materials are efficiently distributed. Thanks to these joint efforts, Thailand has both the ability and the confidence to overcome this pandemic.”

Following this first delivery, local staff then delivered the anti-epidemic supplies to the Royal Thai Police Headquarters in a donation ceremony attended by Commissioner-General Chakthip Chaijinda and other officials, during which they expressed their gratitude. The next stop was the Thai Red Cross Society in the afternoon, where Chaiwat Utaiwan, chairman of its COVID-19 Volunteer Bureau the chairman of Nomination & Governance Committee, affirmed that the materials will be delivered as soon as possible to those most in need. At 4PM, the last batch of equipment, consisting of medical-grade protective masks, KN95 masks, and personal protective clothing, arrived Pathun Thani Hospital in the province’s industrial zone for frontline medical staff protection, where Chomthana headquarters are located.

“I am very pleased to complete this donation with Yili and Chomthana,” said Yi Fan, Chairman of the Siam Dragon Association. “As long as we work together, we will emerge from this pandemic victorious.” The Siam Dragon Association’s Vice Chairpersons Liu Xiangping and Zhou Sikun as well as Sing Sian Daily’s Executive Director Lin Yanggang and the Fujian Association of Thailand’s Vice Chairman Dr. Zhang Yu’an attended the donation activities.

Yili officially acquired Chomthana on May 8, 2019, opening up a new chapter of cooperation between the company and Thailand. Over the past year, Yili has been focused on fostering win-win development and has currently more than 870 employees in Thailand, of which more than 99% are local employees. During the pandemic, Yili and Chomthana have maintained strict measures to ensure employee health and safety; this has included distributing masks for all employees, conducting temperature checks and disinfection every morning and evening, implementing schedules for employee meal times, and carrying out emergency drills.

Under the guidance of Yili’s Chairman Pan Gang, the company will continue to to deepen its efforts to combat the pandemic in both China and overseas, forging partnerships with different parties to allow the world to, once again, realize the dream of “World Integrally Sharring Health”.
